New Europe College- Regional Fellowships Program 2004-2005- Calls For Applications

The New Europe College in Bucharest (Romania) announces the Regional Fellowships Program in the humanities and social sciences starting October 1, 2004.
Targeted are researchers and academics (preferably young) from South-Eastern Europe (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Slovenia, Turkey, and Yugoslavia), who are in the final stage of completing a Ph.D. program or who already have the Ph.D. title.
Duration of the Fellowship: one term or a full academic year (10 months): a) October through February, b) March through July, or c) October through July.
Location: the New Europe College in Bucharest.
The Fellowship consists of: a monthly stipend (basic stipend of 460 EURO - tax free), accommodation, a one-month research trip abroad to an institution of the Fellow's choice (2,560 EURO for transportation, accommodation, and per diem), international transportation to and from the home country of the Fellows at the beginning and the end of the Fellowship, as well as for season holidays.
The Fellows are expected to work on a project to be published by the New Europe College after the end of the Fellowship (in English, French, or German), and to take part in the scientific events organized by the New Europe College (seminars, workshops, conferences, lectures held by foreign scholars, symposia, etc.).
Working languages: English, French, and German. A good command of English is desirable.

Open Competition for the LOOKING INSIDE SUB-COMPONENT OF THE ARTS AND CULTURE NETWORK PROGRAM 
Aims 
The aim of Looking Inside is to organize an East-East program of placements in well established and acknowledged cultural institutions of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Mongolia for art managers and cultural administrators from the region. The program is addressed to art managers and cultural administrators with professional background in the field, who are interested in sharing experience and knowledge, learning about other cultural practices, and raising their professional skills. 
The main goals of Looking Inside are: 
To increase mobility of cultural and arts practitioners who want to implement innovative models of operation in their organization or institution by exploring other cultural practices.
To contribute to share and exchange of competencies, practices, skills and knowledge between arts managers and cultural administrators by organizing placements in well-recognized artistic institutions from the region.
To invest in cultural professionals, who might contribute to significant long-term sustainable changes in culture and the arts in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Mongolia. 
Procedures and Guidelines 
* Applicants must be employed by a Romanian state, municipal or private non-profit cultural institution;
* Applicants can choose from the program database of hosts organizations or select a host organization of their own provided they attach to their application an official invitation (approval);
* Basic communication skills in English or the host country's language are required; the language ability will be checked for the applicants selected at the national evaluation;
* Applications should be filled out in English only;
* The duration of internships is 2-3 weeks, taking place preferably not later than May 2003;
* Expected grant for one internship should not exceed $3000 for all related expenses (travel, visa, per diems, insurance, accommodation, fee for tutor, small organizational costs concerning intern's stay).
Limitations 
Students from undergraduate programs and those without some practical experience are not eligible for support. Artists are not eligible to apply unless they perform managerial or administrative functions at cultural organizations/institutions.
