Croatia country team is a small but dynamic group currently consisting of
four bankers and two support staff responsible for overview and monitoring
of a significant part of the Bank's existing operations, developing new
business opportunities and supporting directly and indirectly the work of
all sector teams in Croatia. Together with sector colleagues the team has
managed to build a diversified portfolio across all the sectors (aggregate
commitments of EUR 1.2 billion, existing portfolio of around EUR 850
million), with in excess of 56 individual operations. The current pipeline
is substantial and currently work is in progress on around 15 pipeline
transactions in various stages of development.
A Senior Associate Banker or Junior Principal Banker is sought, with proven
track record, to play a leading role in structuring and closing transactions
in both the public and private sectors, using the full range of financing
structures available to the Bank.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Candidates should be fully capable of working through the whole life cycle
of projects. This will be accomplished through marketing, project
screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, monitoring
of projects and execution. The candidates should have a background in the
technical preparation, appraisal and implementation of investment projects,
and be familiar with the financial structuring of projects, including use of
guarantees.
The candidates will be required to take part and lead the monitoring of
existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports
based on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review and other
research. It is expected that the candidates would have the technical
knowledge to lead under limited supervision simpler transactions. The
candidates would be required to work on general industry projects as well as
specialised industry projects in support of specialised sector teams across
all the sectors. Understanding of policy issues associated with the Bank's
mandate would be an advantage. Interact with external consultants including
setting tasks, drafting terms of reference, follow-up.
Management of Staff and Administration
Provide guidance and coaching to more junior banking staff (i.e. analysts).
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding of
accounting principles and practice of credit analysis. Financial analysis
skills: ability to design financial models; identify, understand and help
solve complex issues related to financial analysis or. Sound understanding
of business principles. Ability to work well within a team. Very good
written and oral communication skills in English. Minimum of 4-5 years
relevant experience for Senior Associate level, with experience in due
diligence, financial analysis of project finance and corporate finance
lending and equity investments, previous experience with a leading
investment / merchant bank would be preferable. Minimum of 7 years
investment bank / project finance experience for Principal level, from a
major international financial institution where he / she must have acquired
high level banking / transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in
structuring operations. Essential: good relevant degree from a leading
university in the country of education Computer literacy Desirable:
cash-flow -based transaction experience; fluency in one or more languages of
our countries of operations; knowledge of Croatian language would be a
significant advantage; prior experience in countries of Central and Eastern
Europe/former Soviet Union.

General Job Description:
Direct management of all paving operations (sub-base, CTB and asphalt) for
Croatian Motorway project, including a multi-national direct-hire workforce,
multi-national supervision staff and equipment fleet. Scope involves peak
monthly production of approximately 95,000 m3 of sub-base, 35,000 m3 of CTB
and 65,000 m3 of asphalt. Candidate will be able to demonstrate similar
experience supervising direct-hire workforce and be experienced in
application of both Vogele and Caterpillar equipment. Candidate will have
international experience and be willing to accept two to three year
assignment in Croatia.
