FINANCIAL NEWS REPORTING COURSE FOR CEE JOURNALISTS Financial journalists from Southeast European (CEE) print media are invited
to a five-day practical writing course, based on Reuters model of "learning by
doing," scheduled from October 14 to 18 at the Albanian Media Institute (AMI) in
the country's capital Tirana.
The course is organized by the Media Development Loan Fund (MDLF) in cooperation
with AMI.
The five-day course replicates a live newsroom, using simulated economic news
scenarios. Participants are expected to write on deadline on highly specialized
topics, such as financial relations and economic policy in transitional
countries. The program also covers the mechanics of story composition, assessing
priority, presentation, context and communications. It will be led by two former
Reuters bureau chiefs, Oliver Water and Roger Jeal.
Good spoken and written English, and minimum three years experience are
required. Participants should primarily work in the business and economics
sections of their newspapers or magazines.
Interested individuals should send their CV and motivation letter to
josh.laporte@mdlf.org by September
15. Scholarships are available on merit basis through the Albanian Media
Institute.
